Software Developer, part-time pastor, and I raise chickens. Who can't love a chicken?

For Christianity.stackexchange.com, my religious background:

  • Grew up in a Protestant, evangelical, nondenominational "Bible Church" (-1990)
  • earned a M.Div at a Baptist Seminary (2008) and pastored a very small Baptist church (2004 - 2008)
  • Served in an Episcopal Church, and yes I did that site. (2008 - 2013)
  • Back to a Baptist church that has a true passion for breaking down the barriers of church so as to focus on the original mission of the church - namely to bring Jesus to a dying world.

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about a rapidly-changing topic

comment How can I fairly use copyrighted bible translations in an app?
Also, I can't see any publisher who would think a book is reset each day, so I doubt a database would be any different

Agreed it is not on topic, but I can tell you the answer: You write the copyright owner and pay them to license the version to you. Bob Pritchett (bob@logos.com), owner of Logos Software would probably be an awesome resource for you, especially in this instance.

In general you should be focusing on Luke

Also, even though it is Mary, the Magnificat (Luke 1) has a lot to say about the poor Vis a Vis the rich. I think a prof would find it relevant what his own mother was saying about him.

If you are going to be talking about the Words of Jesus, make sure you address Isa 58- Jesus' message is heavily rooted in a preference for the poor, as even John the Baptist knew.

comment What Biblical support is there for a non-Churched Christianity?
I have to agree - but if you take out the first paragraph, I think I could +1 this. it hews to the question very well.

Hey guys- remember we don't do "truth" here. I asked what the reasons were and Nina did a good job articulating them. She wasn't trying to convince anyone she was "right" and even if I'm not convinced of the position I still +1 the facts nature by which she addressed it. I think this is a case for "be nice".
