Michael went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2015. He considered this his favorite hangout. I know he would have wanted to leave you an explanation for his lack of activity on this site.

Software Developer, part-time pastor, and I raise chickens. Who can't love a chicken?

For Christianity.stackexchange.com, my religious background:

  • Grew up in a Protestant, evangelical, nondenominational "Bible Church" (-1990)
  • earned a M.Div at a Baptist Seminary (2008) and pastored a very small Baptist church (2004 - 2008)
  • Served in an Episcopal Church, and yes I did that site. (2008 - 2013)
  • Back to a Baptist church that has a true passion for breaking down the barriers of church so as to focus on the original mission of the church - namely to bring Jesus to a dying world.

comment Why did God change Jacob's name to Israel?
Welcome to C.SE. When you get the chance, please check out our tour and specifically How we are different than other sites. As it stands, this is good information, but it doesn't actually answer this question at all. It says nothing about why Jacob struggled with God...

Historically, the traditional position is that God created things with an apparent age to them.

comment How is original sin transmitted?
Welcome to C.SE! When you get the chance, please check out our tour and specifically How we are different than other sites. As it stands, this is an interesting theory (and if you were to make explicit the idea that Jesus had no original sin, bc Joseph wasn't involved, it would help), but just as an FYI, typically what we are looking for is historically promulgated theories, not new ones. This is a good answer, but not a great one, for that reason only.

comment Do we have no control over our flesh?
Welcome to C.SE. As it stands, this is an okay answer. I like that you've brought James into the mix- it is certainly relevant. If you could expand on it, it would be even better. When you get the chance, please check out our tour
