Software Developer, part-time pastor, and I raise chickens. Who can't love a chicken?

For Christianity.stackexchange.com, my religious background:

  • Grew up in a Protestant, evangelical, nondenominational "Bible Church" (-1990)
  • earned a M.Div at a Baptist Seminary (2008) and pastored a very small Baptist church (2004 - 2008)
  • Served in an Episcopal Church, and yes I did that site. (2008 - 2013)
  • Back to a Baptist church that has a true passion for breaking down the barriers of church so as to focus on the original mission of the church - namely to bring Jesus to a dying world.

Welcome to C.Se. When you get the chance, please check out our tour and specifically How we are different than other sites. This is a good start. It's very chatty and "forum-like," almost to the point of not answering the question (ahem), but by linking to a sermon and trying to brinng it back to theology, I can definitely see that you are trying! In the future, I'd suggest a little more heft in the sources you use, and better explanation of what denomination "Pastor Doug" would speak for. All in all, it's ok

comment Under Catholic dogma can someone publicly rebuke the Pope like Paul rebuked Peter?
@JayarathinaMadharasan Paul's rebuke was directly about the dogmatic teaching in Acts 10 & 15. Peter had proclaimed it as dogma that Gentiles didn't need to worry about clean and unclean, and yet, here he was backsliding.

Good news, you don't have to wait for a good answer. There's already one on the question listed!

comment Do most Christian scientists have a Literal Creationist viewpoint?
Completely unsourced. By the way, Francis Collins, director of the NIH is in your very small minority. Grant you, not YEC, but he is a creationist.

Welcome to C.SE! When you get the chance, please check out how we are different than other sites and our tour page. As it stands this is an okay question, I guess. It is answerable if there's a survey or something. That said, its only vaguely about Christianity. (There are lots of Creationists who aren't Christian and lots of Christians who aren't Creationists.) That said, this is your question, so, Bravo!

comment Is there a good example of believers seeking out advice from other believers in the Bible, especially one that is a story children would understand?
So, umm meta.stackexchange.com/questions/198028/… I was pretty sure I was on the Augustine question, not this one!!!

comment What translation of Augustine's Confessions is the easiest to read in English?
Generally, later translations are better, assuming the translator is sufficiently qualified, because the language will more closely approximate that of the reader. That said, I don't know the qualifications of some of the later translators mentioned, but I definitely feel the pain of reading Pusey. It's like being stuck with a KJV and nothing else!

@Wikis I think I see where I parsed your question incorrectly - does this edit better hit what you are looking for? In general, I consider the lack of a question mark to be a 'bad question smell', and seek to make post titles be actual questions.
