I like to make programs and devices smarter and easier to use. I experiment with new, brilliant interface concepts. I'm a programmer, designer, web developer, and a nice guy.

I like to take pictures. I enjoy good humor in others and the simple things in life, like thunderstorms. Music is a great companion. I seek after anything of good report which makes life more fulfilling.

I believe choices make us who are, and are a major part of how we and others feel.

comment Why did Jesus question God on the cross?
I'm not sure He fully anticipated the complete withdrawal of the Father's presence during the Atonement process. In the Garden, an angel came to comfort him. On the cross, He was completely alone.

comment What biblical reasons are there for using the Lord's Prayer as a pattern for prayer rather than a prayer to repeat verbatim?
Simple indeed. And let's not forget a couple verses before where Jesus says, in Matthew 6:7, "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking." I think it can be easy to become casual when we say the same thing over and over, even if we really mean it (at first).

comment Why do Mormons use the term “elder” for their missionaries?
Clearly stated. Some supporting scriptures include Acts 14:23 (Paul ordains elders; which is an office of the priesthood), 1 Peter 5:1-2 (elders exhorted to feed the flock), D&C 53:3 (Elders preach the gospel), D&C 61:3 (Missionaries, or elders, shouldn't pass by people, but instead should preach the gospel to them).

comment Why didn't God send Jesus during Noah's time instead of The Flood?
For clarification, when you say "that God hadn't intended" - I assume you don't mean that God was caught by surprise, or caught off-guard, so to speak. What does it mean exactly?

comment What does the Bible say about life before conception?
@Narnian You're correct, actually. I failed to credit circumcision, the token of the older of the two covenants. In the new covenant, baptism is the symbol of adoption into the House of Israel, or to the "household of faith" as it says I think in Ephesians. And I'm not referring to any particular outside authoritative sources because each Christian will view certain ones authoritative, and others not. Discrepancy over Bible interpretations is a worthwhile topic (but probably not within this question).

I should have said that.

@DJClayworth I believe I have addressed all those objections quite explicitly at the conclusion of my answer, saying that this IS NOT mainstream Christian belief. The question, however, is not about that. It is asking for passages in the Bible which lead to a conclusion about being before birth, which my answer satisfies. Non-mainstream ideas are presented here because the question is about a non-mainstream idea: That of a spiritual existence before mortality. My answer remains officially, however, sect-independent.

@Narnian True. But let it not be forgot that there are a couple different interpretations of the family of God in the Bible. One is the literal family, being his literal children/offspring as was discussed. Also is the House of Israel, known as God's chosen people, or family, adoption into which is transacted by baptism, or in some Christian faiths, by placing faith in Christ.
