A substance found in e.g. wine, causing drunkenness when used in excess.
Ethanol (CH3CH2OH) or ethyl alcohol, often called just alcohol, is a liquid substance. It is found in e.g. wine and beer. Causes drunkenness when used in excessive amounts.
Alcohol isn't mentioned in the Bible as such, but many references to wine are made. The effects of alcohol are also noted several times, perhaps most prominently in Genesis where Noah builds the first vineyard and gets drunk from the wine.
