In the original fall, Satan desired to be like God, and wanted to be worshipped like God.

Thus, after the fall, numerous false religions have been set up.

Question: How do atheists fit into this picture? As far as I know atheists do not consider themselves to worship anything? From the perspective of Satan, how do atheists worship Satan?

Just pointing this out... Your question doesn't cite why you think Atheists render worship to Satan. That might be helpful to add - give the question some context. Most atheists would say they don't "worship" any being. It would help if you could clarify what you mean. – David Stratton Aug 29 '12 at 5:02
@DavidStratton: Good point. Is this better? – anon Aug 29 '12 at 5:21
Doesn't matter. Good answers are rolling in. – David Stratton Aug 29 '12 at 5:41

The bible does not say that atheists worship the Devil. It says all sinners (equally atheists, or non-atheists) 'follow the Devil' in that they are all led by his power and by their own lusts. The reason why this is said to be following the Devil, in that he has been made prince of this world by his power and original involvement in leading man into his sinful state. The Devil is the sinners tyrant and malicious task master not worshipped Lord.

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience — among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. (Ephesians 2:1-3)

This makes the unbeliever a follower of the prince of the air, carrying out the sinful desires and cravings of the fallen nature making them sons of disobedience. This is not described as worshiping the Devil for an atheists might not even, and probably does not even believe in the Devil.

This state of deparvity actually makes sinners a child of the Devil in that their nature reflects his and is therefore an image of reflection, as it represents the same likeness. That is what children do to their parents, only physically, they look like them.

Jesus said to them, “ If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father 's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:42-44)

The good news is that although we are born 'enemies of God' we can equally find salvation in Christ, wether atheist, or non-athiest there is no difference:

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. (Romans 5:10)

Given the great fall of man from his original state in being 'made in the image of God' reformed theology assumes man lost that image as he now reflects an opposing image. For example Luther explains here:

God announces the punishment: “On whatever day you eat from this tree, you will die by death,” as though He said: “Adam and Eve, now you are living without fear; death you have not experienced, nor have you seen it. This is My image, by which you are living, just as God lives. But if you sin, you will lose this image, and you will die.” (Luther's Works Volume 1, P63)

Ironically according to this traditional biblical view, Luther and Calvin were electronically stoned with a few unfounded down votes here. This should be expected as nothing can offend more than to strip away the glory of man by due regard to his sin. This is why Christians are ultimately rejected, not because the world hates us, but because it hates the Christ that men like Luther and Calvin held up for view through the gospel:

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil. (NIV John 7:7)

The main error in the question is, I suspect, shown by your second line:

Thus, after the fall, numerous false religions have been setup.

That implies that what you term "false religions" exist, ultimately, to worship Satan. However, that simply does not follow - and frankly just smacks of anti-other-ism. Indeed, it would be deeply offensive to a devout Hindu or Sikh (etc) to suggest that their non-Christian beliefs make them Satan worshippers. Keeping in mind the many non-Abrahamic faiths, rather than focusing on atheism, may help you consider the question more evenly. As for atheists: they're more likely to be amused by this all-too-familiar non-sequitur than genuinely offended.

Christianity would argue that any non-Christian position serves Satan's goals, but in terms of logic: the lack/absence of X does not imply the presence of the opposite of X.

How is it that absence of heat is always cold. – JoaoRodrigues Aug 29 '12 at 8:16

@JoaoRodrigues "cold" is a relative concept (not formally defined), and is only defined in the context of relative temperature. However, the absence of "heat" in my oven is not "cold", it is "room temperature". My freezer might be called cold. Ultimately, though, that (heat versus cold) is a silly comparison. – Marc Gravell Aug 29 '12 at 8:47

@PeterTurner do you mean heat-death? i.e. the lack of heat? Again: everything here is typically defined in terms of the presence/absence of heat: cold is not an actual "thing", nor is the opposite of a "thing" - rather, it is the lack of a "thing". You can't "add cold" to a system... what you can do is: move the heat elsewhere, dilute the heat, or change the form of the energy. – Marc Gravell Aug 29 '12 at 11:41

@Joao no, "unbelief" is not the same as "belief in the non-existence". To add a more familiar example, the verdict "not guilty" absolutely does not mean "we believe this person is innocent"; it means "the prosecution have failed to demonstrate guilt". – Marc Gravell Aug 29 '12 at 22:36

@PeterTurner The universe will not cool down to absolute zero universally. Indeed, there will still be the same amount of energy then as there is now, it's just that as the universe expands, everything will be spread out so much more that the average will tend asymptotically ("never-reachingly") towards zero. – Kaz Dragon Aug 30 '12 at 7:07

Even in the Adam and Eve's Fall, the purpose of Satan is not really for human to worship them, but simply to distort the creation of God and cause human to burn in hell. Even the Idol worshipping is not exactly worshipping Satan, they are just worshipping some idols which might not be associated to Satan at all. The closer form of Satan worshipping should be the Satanic church or any form that directly worship Lucifer and his buddies.

The rule that God set is that only through Jesus Christ one can be saved. One can't go to heaven if they don't believe in Jesus.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Atheists doesn't believe in any God, it means that it prevent them to enter the Heaven. Since hell is the only alternative here, and that's where Satan is going to be too, that kind of satisfy the devils.

it begs the questio, what does "One can't go to heaven if they don't believe in Jesus." mean? - which has been "answered" here before. – user1054 Aug 31 '12 at 16:18
