The amount of time the couple dates before deciding on marriage has increased with each new generation.

If you have fallen in Love with your mate, is it a sin to imagine yourself "fulfilling your marital duties" to someone whom you see as your potential spouse while you wait for the right time?

(I avoided saying "imaging sex with someone you love" because I wanted to be clear that this isn't a case where the thoughts would cause me to actually divulge into those actions. I am asking merely the principle of the act, not whether it would be wrong because of what it would lead to sort of reasoning)

Sorry mate, but one of the lines in our faq states "Your questions should be reasonably scoped. If you can imagine an entire book that answers your question, you’re asking too much." Not only have hundreds of books been written on this topic, but you could write a whole series on how all the different Christian traditions have handled this. – Caleb♦ Aug 8 '12 at 19:36
You'll find some questions are just too broad to throw out there to all of Christiondom. You'll find we don't do questions that are going to solicit a wide range of opinions and perspectives. Instead of asking "How should a Christian date?", this would be a place to ask questions about specific Christian traditions like "Do Menonites have any standardized dating practices?" But...aren't you asking "is it lust to think about having sex with my girlfriend/boyfriend?" That's the crux of this isn't it? let's not mince words here, if that's what you want to know, ask that. – wax eagle♦ Aug 9 '12 at 1:31
