I apologize for any ignorance I may display in my asking this question but I'm a little confused. I have been searching for the meaning of sexual immorality in order to fully understand what the problem with masturbation is. I've been raised to believe that it is wrong, and I do. I just don't know why. I understand the implications of premarital sex which I why I made the connection between the two, but n Leviticus Chapter 18 1 -30 there is a long list of sexual immoralities that God tells us to stay away from and masturbation or self pleasuring isn't mentioned which confuses me.

I have also read that the act of masturbation is wrong because you are wasting your seed. But then what about women? They don't have sperm and therefore no "seed" to waste. So, I guess basically what I'm asking is what is why is masturbation so wrong?

This question appears to be off-topic. The users who voted to close gave this specific reason:

  • "Questions asking for the truth or validity of a particular doctrine or belief (aka Truth Questions), and questions asking Is X a Sin? are not a good fit for our site, due to their subjective nature, and the vast number of possible Christian opinions on such topics. See: We can't handle the truth" – David Stratton

Not sure if this is a duplicate or not. I'll let the community decide rather than taking unilateral action. What is the biblical basis to claim that masturbation is a sin?. At the very least, I can say that all angles in this question have been addressed somewhere on the site, See this site search. –  David Stratton Aug 7 at 3:45

No worries. We were all new once! As a new visitor, I'd recommend checking out the following posts, which are meant to help newcomers "learn the ropes": the help page and How we are different than other sites? No offense, but I am closing this after all, based on the "is X a sin" guidelines. –  David Stratton Aug 7 at 3:56

I knew that I should have worded this better. I wasn't asking whether or not this is a sin because I know it is, I just wanted some clarification on why. Thank you for your help though. –  WillingToLearn Aug 7 at 4:51

You know masturbation is a sin? Did you read the linked question? I think most Christians would agree that it isn't! –  curiousdannii Aug 7 at 8:36
