Christianity Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for committed Christians, experts in Christianity and those interested in learning more. It's 100% free, no registration required.

There are a few Christian communities that claim they are the "One True Church". Some of these ecclesial communities and Churches don't consider others as Christians if they are not part of their Church. Some consider other Christians as "separated brothers".

For reference purposes (and as a seed for common questions related to this topic), which Christian communities claim that they are the "One True Church", the fullest expression of the Christian faith, the proclaimers and keepers of the Truth of God? Please indicate the year when these communities have made that claim with references where possible. The answer with the most complete list of communities, years and references, will be accepted.

I am only asking for a listing, and not for answers, comments or discussions about why these communities believe this.

Questions that involve large lists or polls are not a good fit for the StackExchange QnA format, hence the thrust of your question is not considered "constructive" to the site. Please see the FAQ. – Caleb Sep 7 '11 at 10:07
I'm afraid Caleb is right. Welcome, thanks for asking your first question, but indeed it will probably be closed because you are asking for a list. Please take a look at some of the more specific questions and try again. – Wikis Sep 7 '11 at 10:38

I quickly went through the relevant sections in the FAQ, and during a first quick glance I couldn't find how this question violates the QnA format and I didn't see a mention that lists are a bad thing. Is this an unwritten rule or conventional wisdom or, most probably, did I not read the relevant section in the FAQ? – W1M0 Sep 7 '11 at 11:34

Yeah, as a Catholic, I was under the impression that we were the only folks bold enough to make this particular claim. Although the Jehovah's witnesses I've met seem to make a similar claim. I don't think it would make a big list. There is a book that details all the worlds Christian denominations. I saw it at Half Price Books, don't remember what it's called though. – Peter Turner Sep 7 '11 at 19:56
