A similar question was asked here which seeked answers from the now mainstream Christians people who believe in trinity.
I read that LDS(Mormon) does not believe in the theory of trinity and hence are theologically very close to Muslims. considering this , and the verse of Quran below:
O People of the Book (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, and attribute to God nothing except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a Messenger of God, and His command that He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in God and in His Messengers ... (Quran 4:71)
So if a Mormon converts to Islam while retaining his belief for Jesus like belief as Jesus being the Messiah and the belief in the agency of the Messiah and also the later agency of prophet Muhammad, then how the Mormon community views such a person? Are there any scriptural grounds to disallow conversion to Islam? As this is not same as converting to Judaism which explicitly requires that the convert reject Christ as the Messiah.
Ofcourse this question is best answered by a scholarly Mormon. So I would like to read only the Mormon point of view.
