There is significant evidence and documentaries on how the Bible has been augmented and parts removed by political leaders of the past in attempt to control people, under the protection that it is entirely produced by the holy spirit.
This does not mean that the core of the word is any less valid but rather if a political ruler can slip something in or remove something under the blanket of the Word.
However which denominations recognize this and how do they account for it?
Also would it be naive of a Christian to not account for this?
When I have more time I will come back and specify examples, but the examples from the television documentary were about passages or writings that were gnostic in nature and thus would reduce the power of the Vatican over people, as well as as passages that supported Jesus trusting Marry more, i.e. - women's rights. (If there are no examples that are clear cut enough, it is no secret political rulers have manipulated religion to their own interests..the whole Pope issues of Rome say enough. Again, this is not saying the whole concept of the Gospel is any less but more like an awareness of a possible issue from a fallen world.)
