I was looking for an answer that I could link someone to, but it looks like this question has not been asked yet. I am looking for an answer that is as direct and conclusive as possible.

Does or does not the Bible say that Jesus is God?

We cannot expect God to say or do things exactly in a way that we want them to be. It cannot be like statements given in press conferences by our present day leaders. In God’s Wisdom, that which is fit and sufficient to strengthen the faith of those who were destined to be saved is spelt out in Bible. – jayyeshu Mar 5 at 11:32

Everything we know about what Jesus said is written in the Bible. So when the question says "does Jesus say it" then it's also asking if the Bible says it. – DJClayworth Mar 5 at 14:40
You are asking this within the context of Christianity. In that context the Bible, and especially the sayings of Jesus, are authoritative. So within Christianity, if the Bible tells us that Jesus says he is God, then he is. – DJClayworth Mar 5 at 18:41
I think I see where you are coming from @Alypius. Could a clearer question be something like "Does anyone in the bible other than Jesus say that Jesus is God"? – Greg Mar 6 at 4:13

Bible says so or at least points towards His Divinity at many places:

John 1:1, 14 it says "In the beginning was the Word ... and the Word was God ... and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us".

Matt. 1:21 She will give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Matt. 1:22 This all happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: 1:23 “Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel,” which means “God with us

John 1:18 No one has ever seen God. The only one, himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.

John 10:30 The Father and I are one.

John 10:38 But if I do them, even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may come to know and understand that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. ..."

John 14:7 If you have known me, you will know my Father too. And from now on you do know him and have seen him.”...

John .” 14:9 Jesus replied, “Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 14:10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me, believe because of the miraculous deeds themselves.

In his first letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul wrote: " And without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: God was manifest in the flesh , justified by the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory "(1 Timothy 3:16).

Writing to the church at Colosse (in modern Turkey), Paul tells them that Christ " dwells all the fullness of God "(Colossians 2:9). At another church, Paul says, " Have this attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus, who being in very nature God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, in the likeness of men "(Philippians 2:5-7).

Indirect inferences:

  1. He was crucified precisely for this charge when He declared that He is the Son of God thus making Himself equal with God.
  2. Think of the story of Jesus walking in the water, found in Matthew 14:22-33 and Mark 6:45-52. Most English translations hide the Greek by quoting Jesus as saying, "Fear not, it is I." Actually, the Greek literally says, "Fear not, I am." Those last two words are identical to what Jesus said in John 8:58, when he took upon himself the divine name "I am," which is the way God revealed himself to Moses in the burning bush in Exodus 3:14. So Jesus is revealing himself as one who has the same divine power over nature as Yahweh, the God of the Old Testament.
  3. One of the most striking is his forgiving of sin. If you do something against me, I have the right to forgive you. However, if you do something against me and somebody else comes along and says, "I forgive you," what kind of cheek is that? The only person who can say that sort of thing is God himself, because sin, even if it is against other people, is first and foremost a defiance of God and his laws. So along comes Jesus and he says to sinners, "I forgive you." The Jews immediately recognize the blasphemy of this. They react by saying, "Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Not only did Jesus forgive sin, but he asserted that he himself was without sin. And certainly sinless-ness is an attribute of deity.
