I've read some books on the subject and they always seem to state that you shouldn't really go looking for a woman to date, you should just "let it happen".

However I've also read some books that say that "just letting it happen" is a bit like sitting outside the bank and wishing all the money was yours: you're not going to get any money if you don't take action.

I've decided that the taking action bit doesn't work, but at the same time, the "let it happen" makes no sense to me.

Can somebody please clear this up?

I suggest re-asking more along the lines of "How does the Bible say I should find a mate?" – Flimzy Aug 31 '11 at 3:22
okay...I did that... – leeand00 Aug 31 '11 at 3:23
@leeand00: I suggest also editing the body of the questions so that it's focused and can be more objectively answered. – El'endia Starman Aug 31 '11 at 3:25
@Robert Cartaino: I also meant for him to update this question, as El'endia Starman suggested... not simply to retitle the question in Christianese. – Flimzy Aug 31 '11 at 3:31
If you are looking for biblical examples I would suggest 1) ask God to make one out of your rib (Adam) 2) Work for seven years as a shepherd to get one (Jacob) 3) Get your servant to pick one based on who gives water to your camels (Isaac) 4) If you're female get your father-in-law drunk and seduce him (Lot) or 5) spend the night sleeping by your distant relative (Ruth). Good luck with those. – DJClayworth Mar 8 '12 at 10:09
